John Wayne and the Last Tradition

FOR MY FRIEND SAMUEL OVER AT  THE LAST TRADITION
THIS RETIREMENT SCENE REMINDED ME OF DOUGLAS MAC ARTUR AND WHAT HE SAID AT WEST POINT AND BEFORE CONGRESS, "OLD SOLDIERS NEVER DIE THEY JUST FADE AWAY".   AND SPEAKING OF OLD SOLDIERS I HAVE HAD THE HONOR TO MEET SOME WELL KNOW ONES IN MY DAY.  WHILE LIVING IN MONROE, LOUISIANA I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF MEETING GENERAL CLAIRE CHENNAULT OF "THE FLYING TIGERS FAME".  AMERICAN PILOTS WHO FOUGHT WITH THE CHINESE BEFORE AMERICA GOT INTO WWII.  LATER, MUCH LATER I GOT TO MEET GENERAL EDWIN WALKER.  GENERAL WALKER WAS THE GENERAL FROM DALLAS, TEXAS THAT LEE HARVEY OSWALD SHOT AT AND MISSED A MONTH OR SO BEFORE THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION---THIS WAS ONLY KNOW WHEN THE BULLETS WERE COMPARED AFTER THE SHOOTING OF JFK.  JUST A LITTLE TRIVIA.
